Our CCW Training approach

Marin County CCW Training

"2A Firearms Academy is proud to be an officially authorized CCW training provider recognized by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. Whether you're applying for a new concealed carry license or renewing an existing one in Marin County, our certified instructors deliver the professional, Sheriff-approved instruction required to meet county standards with confidence.

The Marin County CCW training is designed to provide the student with an understanding of the attitude, skills, and knowledge necessary to prepare them for the unexpected encounter for which they might find themselves. This firearms course was designed for the beginner to advanced shooter who is looking to gain their Marin County Conceal Carry license.

The following topics will be covered in the CCW class, but this is not a comprehensive list as we do our best to tailor the class topics to the needs of the given audience participants.

  • Laws concerning firearms possession, storage, etc.
  • Firearm safety rules
  • Fundamentals of shooting
  • Loading and unloading procedures
  • Clearing stoppages
  • Firearm and holster selection
  • Firearms qualification course

This is not a beginner’s pistol class.  It is expected you are proficient in the use of your firearm.  Attendance of this CCW class alone does not guarantee successful passing of the class.  If you need a beginner pistol class please let us know and we can schedule something with you before you attend this class.

We offer the 16-hour required training the Marin County Sheriff requires of initial CCW applicants.  Be sure to check with your issuing entity to verify their training requirement.

16-Hour Initial CCW

The training is approximately 8 hours of classroom work and 8 hours of range time. The time will vary depending on number of students and their ability.  Classes of less than 6 participants will be rescheduled to the next class date.

Cost: $400 + Range Fees

Range fees are $50 per student.  Includes targets, and training completion certificate, and copy The Law of Self Defense (by Andrew Branca.) No extra charge if qualifying with multiple firearms.
