Intermediate Pistol Class
To own a firearm, you need to have a reasonably good skill in handling the gun. In this class, you will acquire hands-on learning in the proper way to handle a firearm. Once established, we make sure you have the skills to shoot with confidence and true on target. It does no good for you to simply learn how to hold a gun. Although this is serious education, you will have fun doing this training. The things you learn in this class give you the knowledge and practice you need to acquire proficiency in handling your pistol.
What are you taught in this course? We developed this course for the individual that is very serious about learning safe and proper use of a firearm. That starts with becoming extremely familiar with your firearm in a classroom setting. In the beginning demonstrating safe handling of the firearm is key. After you become familiar with your firearm, you begin the shooting phase of this firearm training course. We take you out to the range for two hours where you will learn proper holster draw and demonstrate shooting skills at an increased level. You will be surprised on how quickly you will increase your accuracy and speed.
The number of repetitions you will experience is incomparable to other pistol courses. You can expect to fire 150-200 rounds in this course.
Classroom training will cover the following topics:
- Refresh on firearm safety rules
- The Master grip
- Sight alignment
- Breath control
- Proper trigger squeeze
- Malfunction drills, unjamming the gun
- Disassembly and reassembly of the firearm
All of our programs are performance-based. Depending on group size and performance, such as how easily your group adapts to new skills, you may be completed in less than 4 hours. Depends on how easily your group adapts to new skills and arrive on time.
Prerequisites
The Basic Pistol class is required to attend this class. At this stage of your education, it is expected each student will supply their own handgun. Practicing with your own handgun is the best learning opportunity since that this the firearm that is always with you. Please clean and lubricate your gun in advance of the course or bring your gun cleaning kit with you.
Valid photo ID REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS.
Minors welcome from 12 years of age and up with parent or guardian.
Foreign Students welcome with passport.
Bring The Following
- Handgun and three magazines or three-speed loaders if using a revolver
- Holster – Open top, Kydex, molded strong-side belt holster. Holsters such as Blade-tech OWB holsters, Red Hill Tactical Kydex, Uncle Mike’s Kydex, Alien Gear,etc. (No Blackhawk Serpa holsters please).
- Magazine holders
- Minimum 200 rounds ammunition
- Proper clothing for the weather, sunscreen, hat, long-sleeve shirt, long pants. No low cut necklines.
- Training shoes – no open-toe shoes
- Snacks and plenty of water
- Notebook and pen
- Eye and ear protection
Please note, range fees and ammunition are paid by the students. Range fees are from $10- $20 depending on the range we are using.
